CHENNAI : As the 75th Independence Day of the country is being celebrated, former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that we are in a situation where we have to fight together for social justice and fairness.
On behalf of the Liberation Tigers Party, the awarding ceremony was held yesterday at Kalaiwanar Arena, Chennai. In this, writer S.V. ‘Periyar Kaura’ Award to Rajathurai, ‘Kamarasar Kathir’ Award to VGP World Tamil Association President VG Santosath, ‘Ayothidasar Aadhavan’ Award to Ex-IAS Officer C. Chellappan, ‘Kaite Millath Birai’ Award to STBI National Vice President Thegalan Bhagavi, Archeology Scholar K. Irasan was awarded ‘Classic Sunday’. His son Darwin received the ‘Marx Mamani’ award for late writer I.R. Jawahar. Subsequently, this year’s ‘Ambedkar Sudar’ award was given to former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The awards were presented by VSK President Thol.Thirumavalavan.
Speaking at the ceremony, former Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah said: I am very happy to receive this award in the name of Ambedkar and in the land of Periyar. Thank you for recognizing that I am working for the underprivileged and giving this award. The struggle of the Liberation Tigers of India is against oppression. We see a lot of differences in society. Those who have created caste in society have created a condition of inequality. They created caste only because they could oppress the downtrodden.
