Mysore: The state excise department has seized two major brands worth Rs 25 crore after a chemical test report found the prestigious Kingfisher beer unfit for human consumption, a senior official said on Wednesday. Mysore Rural Excise Deputy Commissioner A Ravishankar told reporters that the Excise Police have registered a case in this regard and the department has taken action to destroy the inventory.
Sediment content was found in King Fisher Strong Beer and King Fisher Ultra Lager Beer batch number 7C and 7E 2023 manufactured at Nanjangud unit of United Breweries Limited.
Sediment content was detected in Kingfisher Strong manufactured in Nanjangud unit. Thus a total of 78,678 beer boxes have been intercepted. An FIR has been registered for non-production of quality beer and it has been stopped from being sold at retail. The in-house chemist reported that it is not fit for human consumption. A Ravishankar has informed that action has been taken based on this report.
